MUST TRY!!! This place was MAD GOOD! Exactly what I was looking for. Healthy, organic food that ACTUALLY TASTES AMAZINGLY GOOD! (and nice atmosphere to dine with friends or alone) I'd recommend this place to everyone! Completely unique too. Not the classic salad and soup place. They mix up everything with new fresh ingredients and tasty as hell dressings. If you are in the area I'd strongly recommend you go and if you aren't I strongly recommend you visit so you can go! I'm from NYC and I hope they open one there. Even for the Big Apple this review is accurate! We need one NOW!

I really want to love this place and have actually been here 4 times to-date. They offer a large selection of fresh high-quality organic produce. Love, love, love that they offer turkey bacon! I appreciate their preparation technique, in which they chop the salad. My two biggest complaints are that the dressings are so bland. I always get mine to-go and end up pouring on my Martinez dressing from my fridge because their's just doesn't cut it for me. If anyone who works there ends up reading this....seriously just adding some lemon juice and garlic to the ranch would really bring it to life. :) My second issue is the price. I can't justify paying $10 for a salad even if it is delicious. So I only go there now when I find a "Hooked" deal or they offer me free cash via their Salad's Up app. Because, I downloaded their app. they loaded $6 onto my account so I was able to try their Cobb salad and it was delicious (especially once I added my dressing). Their soup is also yummy. They also have good customer service. I'm looking forward to another Hooked deal so I can return soon.

Nice concept. Food is tasty and fresh with various combinations. 'Mix it up' option will be better as you can choose the ingredients without getting the price too high.

Salads UP was AMAZING! I had the Heapin' Harvest with the shallot balsamic dressing. All of the ingredients were FRESH, healthy and delicious! I like that they had signature salads to choose from or I could create my own. The salad itself was pretty large and I left feeling fully satisfied. The service was quick and it was a comfortable atmosphere. I'll definitely be back again and again!

Love the atmosphere and the food. Very healthy and quality choices of ingredients. Vegan and vegetarian friendly. They have a super convenient app you can use to pay and accumulate rewards. My personal favorite salad is the Kale Caesar. Be wary of prices, it can get expensive depending on what you get.

Went in around 1:30 to check this place out for the first time. Service was kind of a mess. I get that it's new, and the people working are nice and mean well. There's just a lot of work that needs to be done in that area. Service was pretty poor because everyone just seems so confused. The guy ahead of me and I got shuffled around. Not a lot of communication between staff members, very little eye contact. They forgot to give me my salad after I payed which was just kind of funny and no big deal. Got back to work and threw it in the fridge for a couple of hours before eating- open it up to try and it tastes pretty good, yet I dig a little deeper and there's a hair from the guy who chopped up my salad right in the middle of the thing. When I get hair in my food I usually just laugh, because I'm a hairdresser and hair is just a part of my day -to- day. This chopping and dressing the salad at the end is a really good concept, however in practice it's just kind of unappealing and gross, there's too much floating around the air to dump it out onto a board that was just haphazardly wiped off from the previous customer. Food quality, though, definitely a 5. Obviously this place has some kinks to work out.

I made my own salad it was surprisingly very good! Their spinach pesto vinaigrette is the bomb. I'm excited that Ann Arbor finally has a healthy, convenient option for college students. However, I think it's a bit pricey, especially the additional costs for protein. But it being placed in Ann Arbor and having fresh and quality ingredients makes it more fair. My biggest problem is the service. I've been here twice and both times they were pretty unorganized. Some of them are unfamiliar with the ingredients as well... I had to point out where the kalamata olives and cucumbers were. They also lost track of my order, so when I went to pay they scrambled and tried looking for my order (which they write down while making the salad). I understand that it's a new place with new workers, so hopefully this will get better. Otherwise, I'm excited for Salads Up to make a name for itself among college students here!

I got a mix it up salad with chicken, which totalled $10. I was very dissapointed with the quality of the salad for the price. I am used to spending 10 bucks on a salad at most places in town and having it be big enough to be two servings for me. This salad was considerably smaller than what I am used to, definitely one serving. The chicken was bland and I was a little sad I couldn't add more than 4 toppings to my salad without being charged extra. I like a lot of toppings! Here's where I'll say the ranch dressing was fantastic. Lots of dill and herbs, which was very nice. I was inspired by Salads Up to make my own lunch salads for the rest of the week. They were far superior, and much cheaper. Won't be back.

Hard to complain about fresh veggies. They have a REALLY diverse selections of fruit, veggies, cheese, legumes, nuts, seeds, proteins, and more. I can think of very few things that they don't have as far as salad is concerned. Service is super quick and is much cheaper than most salad bars in Ann Arbor. They're only loosing a star because their vinaigrettes and caesar dressing are subpar. The vinaigrettes are minimally flavorful and the caesar lacks tanginess.

Fresh salads, some on the menu but outstanding are create your own from multiple greens, veg, nuts, legumes, dressings options. Fast service, bright room, picnic-style long tables. A healthy addition to this downtown area.

To me, it was good but maybe a little on the expensive side. Granted, I just started the paleo diet, and more particularly the Whole30, so I asked a lot of questions about what was cooked in what, and some of it they didn't know (which is just kind of unfortunate in general). They were flexible though and the salad was good. I appreciated a lot of different options to choose from! They also had this mint cucumber water for free, a very nice touch.

I ordered the Heapin' Harvest with lettuce instead of barley. I wanted quinoa but that would be an extra $2. Okay.. My salad was refreshing and tasted like it was made with quality ingredients. Pretty yummy. However, I couldn't justify making this place a regular lunch spot as much as it's sorely needed in Ann Arbor's sea of carb-filled eateries. I had a coupon here for $6 off, otherwise, I think the prices are ridiculous. If they knock off like $2-$3, then I would consider it.

This is EXACTLY what Ann Arbor needed! even on the Grand Opening Day this was the BEST salad i've even in Ann Arbor ( and i've been living here for 7 years). The atmosphere is fresh - the owner mentioned the wood is recycled from an old Ann Arbor house - gives it a clean fresh vibe in compliment with the white tiles and hints of green( obvs the color of choice for a salad place). There is communal seating which i love because sometimes i eat lunch alone and places like Salads Up and Frita Batidos make lunch time fun for meeting new ppl. They have signature salads or you can "mix it up" and make your own starting at $6.50. Or you can turn your salad into a wrap ( whole wheat ) i Mix'd it Up ! got the Lemon Tahini Dressing with Romaine, Spinach, Quinoa, Cucumber, Chic Peas, Edamame, cobbed corn and Roasted Red peppers. They chopped it up real nice and i got a complimentary piece of Zingermans Bread ! today i just went meatless because i forgot to go meatless monday yesterday - they have turkey bacon, roasted chicken, and roasted shrimp. Looking forward to trying out their 2 soups and cold press raw juices. My fav is that they have SPA WATER - today was cucumber water , not sure if this will be the staple water or maybe they'll change it up. Street parking is available, but its right downtown next to the Michigan theater so i just walk there. it's open until 1030PM which is great bc i feel like most restaurants are only open until 10. cash and all major credit cards are accepted and they also have a rewards program !

Finally got to try the maize and bleu salad! Absolutely wonderful!!! The shallot balsamic vineragrette was out of this world as well! Staff was very friendly and helpful to all my questions. In response to the last yelper when I entered the establishment all the ladies had their hair pulled back and the girl who helped me changed her gloves when handling the computer. No problems with cleanliness. If you're looking for quick service with fresh taste this is the place to go!

First time here and really liking my experience. I got the Maize and Bleu based on the rave reviews I've been seeing here as well as asking the girl who helped me at the shop (I asked open-ended what to get and this is where she pointed me). The salad is clearly very fresh. I like that there's fresh corn from the cob and the greens are crisp! The shallot balsamic, as all others have mentioned, was very tasty. Kind of wish you got more protein (shrimp on this salad) but honestly four pieces is enough for a lunch anyway. They even give you a staple of Ann Arbor baking, a slice of Zingerman's bread...kudos there. I'll definitely be back and next time will be trying Rob's Cobb with a pressed juice!

Super fast, healthy, and TOTALLY reasonable pricing compared to the restaurants around them. (I got a huge salad and was shocked when it was like $7) I will definitely be back for more :)

I really like that this place is convenient and close to campus. Some of their "premium" items are ridiculously expensive. Adding 5 pieces of shrimp to my salad was $4. And like other reviewers have said, their scoop is pretty small for any kind of topping. My salads end up being about $10. Price is the main thing stopping me from eating here more. But they have really unique dressings. It would be nice to see nutritional facts for them, although I know they are all homemade recipes.

Fast, convenient, and in a perfect location. "Premium" items on the menu are a bit overpriced, but that's to be expected. The vegetables were fresh and the meat tender. It seems to be nothing more than a glorified version of "The Big Salad." The homemade shallot balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. Be prepared to spend over $10 for your salad.

Probably wouldn't recommend this place. I've been in here a few times, and every experience has had similar issues. The employees always seem disorganized and confused. The toppings are of various degrees of freshness. I do like the concept of a make-your-own salad, but there are extra costs for the more desirable items, and the actual execution seems to differ based on employee (level of chopped-ness, generosity of toppings, etc). Not really worth the price.

My salad was good but the customer service and atmosphere left much to be desired. Upon entering the place with 3 of my friends, we were not greeted by the employee who was chopping lettuce so loudly, it was like he was butchering a tough piece of meat. When I was finally ready to order after looking at the wall menu, I went over to the employee, smiled and said hi. He simply looked at me, then to my group, and then back at me, and said "I'll be with you in a minute." The tone of his voice was something like, "can't you see I'm busy with this call-in order?" Like another reviewer mentioned, the people here don't really like to make eye contact, or smile. It was very hard to hear another employee explain dressings to me because--as mentioned above--the noise in this place is migraine-inducing. I'm surprised no one else has mentioned this. The acoustics are extremely live, the sports radio was deafeningly loud, and there is the constant noise of chopping and scraping veggies and lettuce and depositing these into metal holders. I could barely hear my friends talk or myself think. I think the only way I'd return to this place is if I ordered take-out. My salad was fresh, flavorful and satisfying. The tahini dressing was creamy. Another note: There was free cucumber water to drink, which I appreciated, but I think there should also be regular water for people who, like my friend, despise cucumber.

i really keep trying to love this place (i love sweetgreen! so excited to see a salad place open up in ann arbor!), but i fear i've exhausted its merits. pros: super fresh ingredients and good variety. i love that they have fresh jalapenos. cons: dressings are bland as hell. biggest con: SUPER inconsistent sizing. (but consistent pricing...) i've gotten the same salad my last few trips--one time it filled the plastic bowl to the very top, but twice now i've left with half a bowl of salad and a $10 hole in my pocket. i understand that size will fluctuate based on whomever is prepping, but i feel pretty lousy paying the same price for half the salad. UPDATE (4/21): the manager wrote me a very kind note, offering both a refund of my april visit and two free meals. i appreciate the gesture, and look forward to giving salads up another shot. (oh, salad, i do so love thee.)

I was underwhelmed with Salads UP. The employees, while nice, didn't seem to know exactly what they were doing, or who was responsible for doing what. I made my own salad and was talking with a friend when it was being made, so I didn't notice until all the ingredients were in a bowl that they gave me olives instead of almonds. I apologized if I didn't speak clearly, but explained I really hated olives and they gladly offered to make it again. I paid for my salad as it was being remade and when I got it instead of dried cranberries that I asked for I got beets. I had already paid and could tolerate beets so I just took it. Aside from the mix-ups, the salad was just kind of blah. I was looking forward to the balsamic shallot dressing, but found it to be pretty flavorless except in little patches where it was extremely salty. Overall, it was a decent amount of food for the price (I didn't add protein), but I won't be going back.
